素直に満足しているよ

自身の代役ルイス・ガルシアが活躍し、5対1で勝利をおさめW杯ドイツ大会に限りなく近づいたスペイン代表について「満足している」とホアキンは笑顔で答えた。
「今まで代表でレギュラーだったのに、いきなり召集もされないなんておかしい」とスロバキア戦のメンバー発表後、不満を漏らしていたホアキン。今まで自分の後塵を浴びていたルイス・ガルシアが活躍したことで、代表復帰が厳しい状況だが、
「何も不安になんてなっていない。逆に同じ時期に代表入りしながらなかなかプレーする機会がなかったルイス・ガルシアの活躍にとても喜んでいるよ。監督が信頼し、選手がその期待に応え活躍したんだから、本当に彼とスペイン代表の結果に満足しているよ。もちろん、ドイツでプレーする事はあきらめてないし、今回の試合の出来が自分を代表から遠ざけるわけではない。選ばれるかどうかは自分自身が良いプレーをするかどうかだよ」
と代表を外れたショックを忘れ、次のチャンスをものにすることを願っている。
